The Munich Institute of Anatomy houses an exhibition collection spanning 342 square meters, with roots dating back to 1865. It has been continuously expanded since then and has been a central part of the Institute of Anatomy since 1907. Housed in a total of 42 display cases and 18 additional units, the collection—comprising over 2,000 specimens and images—offers a systematic overview of all human body organs, as well as a series of animal skeletons for comparative purposes and to illustrate evolution. Numerous individual specimens, anatomical sections, and—above all—historically significant models provide excellent insight into the internal and external structure of the human body and individual variation. The exhibition is rounded off by an overview of medical imaging techniques that offer a clinical perspective on the human body. Prof. Dr. Dr. Reinhard Putz, Professor Emeritus of Anatomy and Past Dean of the LMU medical faculty, will present the collection on 8 October to small groups of up to 20 people.
